PERTH (Web Desk) - West Indies left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein and Pakistan wristspinner Sufyan Moqim will be among Perth Scorchers' overseas contingent for the Global Super League (GSL) in Guyana later this month.
Scorchers, who will be led by regular captain Ashton Turner, were invited as the winners of last season's BBL following Hobart Hurricanes' participation in the previous edition.
New Zealand batter Mark Chapman, South African batter Dian Forrester, West Indian Ackeem Auguste and Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Usman Khan will also feature as will former Australia international D'Arcy Short, who has never played for Scorchers but had a lengthy association with Western Australia.
Scorchers will also have names more familiar with the club alongside Turner with Test quick Jhye Richardson included along with allrounder Aaron Hardie, who has recently been part of the Australia white-ball set-up, and Ashton Agar.
"This is a bit of a unique opportunity," WA's general manager of high performance, Kade Harvey, told the West Australian. "Once you take it to the players and present them what the opportunity is, all of our guys were keen to play. They're raring to go.
"We've been able to complement our group, who clearly play the vast majority of their cricket in different conditions to Guyana."
Simon Katich will coach Scorchers at the tournament, which runs from July 23 to August 1, with Adam Voges unavailable due to being with Trent Rockets at the Hundred.
There is a US$1 million prize pool on offer for the competition which Guyana Amazon Warriors won last year. This edition will also feature Desert Vipers, Lahore Qalandars and San Franisco Unicorns.
