LAHORE (Dunya News ) - A coach of the Lahore-to-Karachi Shalimar Express derailed near Khanewal Railway Station on Sunday, causing a delay of approximately one hour but resulting in no casualties or injuries, railway officials confirmed.
According to Pakistan Railways, one coach of the 28-Down Shalimar Express came off the tracks near Khanewal Railway Station during its journey from Lahore to Karachi. All passengers remained safe, and no injuries or loss of life were reported.
Following the incident, railway authorities dispatched a relief train from Multan to assist in restoring normal operations. Officials are working to remove the derailed coach and clear the track so that rail traffic can resume without further disruption.
A spokesperson for the Multan Division of Pakistan Railways said an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the derailment. Technical teams are also carrying out repair work on the affected section of the railway track.
Authorities said further details will be shared after the completion of the preliminary inquiry.
