Demand for green electric buses rising across Punjab, says Azma Bukhari

Azma Bukhari says demand for green electric buses is rising in Punjab, with the government planning to expand the service to all 147 tehsils across the province.

LAHORE (Dunya News) — Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari said the green electric bus project has brought significant improvement to the transport sector in Punjab, with public demand for the service continuing to rise.

In a statement, Azma Bukhari said residents of various cities across Punjab are urging Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to introduce electric buses in their areas as well, adding that the government will soon extend the transport facility to all 147 tehsils of the province.

She said 1,100 electric buses are currently operating across Punjab, providing millions of commuters with quality, comfortable and affordable transport on a daily basis.

Azma Bukhari added that alongside green buses, the distribution of green tractors and electric bikes is also progressing rapidly, while the welfare of farmers and youth remains among Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s top priorities.

The Punjab information minister further said Maryam Nawaz is giving special importance to youth in her development initiatives, which she claimed has contributed to growing public popularity.

She also claimed that no other province can match Punjab in terms of performance, good governance and merit.
