ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan's trade deficit widened 21.6% year-on-year to $39.47 billion in the fiscal year 2025-26, as imports rose while exports declined, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics on Friday.
The bureau said the country's exports fell nearly 6% from a year earlier to $30.126 billion during the fiscal year.
Imports increased 7.9% year-on-year to $69.597 billion, widening the gap between exports and imports.
In June alone, exports fell 16.7% from the previous month to $2.239 billion, while imports rose 24.1% to $6.767 billion, resulting in a monthly trade deficit of $4.528 billion, the data showed.
Compared with May, the trade deficit surged 63.8% in June.
On an annual basis, June exports declined 9.6%, while imports increased 26.3%. The monthly trade deficit was 57.1% higher than in June 2025, according to the bureau's figures.
