LAHORE (Dunya News) – Authorities in Punjab have deported 35,719 foreign nationals as part of an ongoing operation against individuals residing illegally in the province, Punjab Police said on Wednesday.
According to a police spokesperson, the deportations have been carried out across the province, including Lahore. A total of 72 foreign nationals are currently being held at designated holding centres while the process of their deportation is under way.
Official figures show that those deported include more than 14,000 men, 7,138 women, and 14,529 children.
The spokesperson said the deportees comprised 11,047 individuals holding Proof of Residence (PoR) cards, 11,135 Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) holders, and 13,537 foreign nationals who were residing in the country illegally.
Punjab Inspector General of Police Abdul Karim has directed law enforcement agencies to maintain a high security alert across the province and ensure the removal of all individuals staying in Pakistan unlawfully.
