ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Sunday said that Pakistan has always strived for maintaining peace and stability in the region, however, protecting the lives and property of its citizens remains the government's top priority.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Tarar said there would be no compromise on the safety and security of Pakistani people.
He added that, under the National Action Plan and the Azm-e-Istehkam vision approved by the Federal Apex Committee, security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue their counter-terrorism campaign with full intensity to eliminate terrorism that the government says is supported by foreign elements.
Tarar said that following several recent terrorist attacks targeting civilians in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and the Pakistan Rangers Sindh camp in Karachi, security forces conducted a coordinated, intelligence-based ground operation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
He stated that highly precise and limited operations were carried out against militant hideouts and safe havens in the Pak-Afghan border region during which 29 militants affiliated with Jamaatul Ahrar and Fitna al-Khawarij were killed.
Attaullah Tarar said that on June 28, 2026, security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation against a group of militants near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Bajaur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He added that the operation was executed with precision, resulting in the killing of high-value Khawarij commander Khan Farosh alias Zabal, along with three other militants belonging to the India-backed proxy group Jamaatul Ahrar. Several others terrorists were reportedly injured.
Attaullah Tarar said that in continuation of Operation Ghazb-lil-Haq, based on credible intelligence, precise targeting of terrorist camps and hideouts belonging to Jamaatul Ahrar and Fitna al-Khawarij have also been carried out on night between Sunday and Monday, in border region of Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
He said that three targets in Afghanistan’s Paktia, Paktika and Kunar provinces were destroyed during precision strikes, killing additional twenty five terrorists. Large quantity of weapons and ammunition stored at these hideouts were also destroyed.
