Iran's Supreme Leader orders legal action over alleged US and Israeli attacks

Updated on:

Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has ordered the judiciary to pursue legal action against the US and Israel over alleged war crimes linked to attacks on Iran.

TEHRAN (Dunya News) - Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has instructed the country's judiciary to initiate domestic and international legal proceedings over what he described as alleged war crimes committed during US and Israeli attacks on Iran.

According to Iranian state media, Khamenei directed judicial authorities to pursue legal measures aimed at securing compensation for the damage caused to the country and restoring the rights of those affected by the attacks carried out since last year.

He said statements made by certain US and Israeli officials could amount to admissions of criminal responsibility and may serve as legal evidence in efforts to seek accountability through judicial channels.

The Supreme Leader said the judiciary's responsibilities extend beyond handling individual cases and include protecting public rights, promoting legal freedoms, ensuring justice, combating corruption, enforcing the law and safeguarding Iran's national interests.

He added that effective implementation of these responsibilities would strengthen public confidence in the country's judicial system.

Khamenei further claimed that the US and Israeli attacks carried out in June 2025 and February 2026 resulted in deaths, injuries and extensive damage, providing grounds for hundreds or even thousands of legal cases.

He cited the deaths of children in Minab and Lamerd, attacks on medical facilities and public service infrastructure, and casualties ranging from newborn infants to elderly civilians, describing them as serious war crimes.

According to Khamenei, public statements by some US and Israeli leaders acknowledging or praising the military operations could be used as supporting evidence in Iran's legal claims.

He also said that pursuing legal action could help deter similar incidents in the future.

Neither the United States nor Israel immediately responded to the latest remarks. The allegations and legal claims have not been independently verified, and any international legal proceedings would depend on the jurisdiction and decisions of the relevant courts and tribunals.
