LAHORE (APP) - Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that the Punjab government is conducting its affairs with complete transparency, in accordance with legal requirements and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
She said this while speaking in the Punjab Assembly on Saturday. She said that under the Annual Development Programme (ADP), 437 schemes have been completed, while more than 340 projects have been approved, and all approval processes will be completed by June 30.
She said, “No project is approved within minutes, instead, every project undergoes a complete institutional and legal process before being sanctioned for public welfare.”
Regarding Muharram arrangements, the minister stated that exemplary arrangements were made across Punjab during Muharram-ul-Haram and Ashura, and these efforts should not be politicized.
She stated that nearly 100% of the Environment department’s development budget had been utilized.
She said that Maryam Nawaz Sharif introduced Punjab’s first comprehensive Smog Mitigation Plan and modernized an Environment department that previously lacked even basic resources.
About Forestry and Wildlife, she stated that 11 modern environmental laboratories have been established. While criticizing the previous government’s Billion Tree Tsunami project, she described it as a “historic fraud,” stating that the current government monitors forests based on: Tree coverage, Sustainability, Tree lifespan, and Geo-surveillance.
She further said, “Punjab now has a Digital Forest System, German fire detection technology, AI drone surveillance, Anti-theft systems, and A Special Forest Force comprising 600 personnel.”
Marriyum said that 5,600 new water filtration plants were being installed and the development work was underway in 2,000 villages. The senior minister praised all law enforcement agencies conducting operations in Punjab’s riverine (Katcha) areas.
She stated that Rs 58 billion worth of development programmes were ensuring the provision of basic facilities in these regions.
Senior minister said that So far, 500 electric buses have arrived in Punjab, of which 345 have been allocated to South Punjab.
Concluding her speech, Marriyum Aurangzeb praised the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, stating that the Punjab government remains firmly committed to its agenda of development, transparency, environmental protection, public welfare and economic stability.
