LAHORE (Dunya News) - Lahore CTO has barred heavy bikes from using CBD Boulevard after declaring it a no-go area for them, and ordered strict action against the violators of the ban.

According to CTO Syed Abdul Rahim, heavy bike riders in groups hit the road, do racing, speeding and make noise, prompting the traffic police to take action against them.

He said an indiscriminate crackdown will be carried out on those who engage in wheelie, dangerous stunts and speeding on weekend nights. In this regard, divisional and circle officers have been instructed to ensure operations under their supervision, while special instructions have also been given to the night shift traffic police across the city, he added.

The CTO clarified that no form of mob violence, road blocking and wheelie will be allowed. He said that special surveillance and strict measures are being taken on CBD Main Boulevard, Defence Main Boulevard and Canal Road.

He also directed the police to monitor violations with the help of Safe City cameras and said those involved in doing wheelie will be identified and cases will be registered against them.

He appealed to parents to keep an eye on the activities of the youth, as speeding can be fatal. He said that special checking of heavy vehicles will also be done to ensure safe travel.
