KARACHI (Dunya News) — The body of Pakistani fisherman Ismail, who died in an Indian jail, has been brought back to Pakistan after completion of necessary diplomatic and legal procedures and handed over to his family by the Edhi Foundation.
According to the Edhi Foundation, 75-year-old Ismail son of Ibrahim had been imprisoned in an Indian jail since 2021, where he died during his detention. After completion of required diplomatic and legal formalities, Indian authorities sent his body to Pakistan.
The body was initially transported to Lahore and later shifted to Karachi by air. Edhi Foundation volunteers received the body at Karachi Airport and transported it by ambulance to the deceased’s residence in Badar Ground, Keamari, where it was handed over to the family.
The Edhi Foundation said all arrangements for bringing back the body and transporting it to Karachi were made on humanitarian grounds so that the deceased could be buried in his hometown in the presence of his family.
