CHILAS (Dunya News) – A cloudburst triggered devastating flash floods in the Thor area of Chilas, causing widespread destruction to homes, crops, livestock and infrastructure.
In Thor Mek, a local mosque was also hit by the floodwaters, while area of Thor suffered severe damage after a sudden flash flood surged down from a dry mountain.
The floodwaters swept away a residential house, valuable household items, livestock and a vehicle. Nearly 200 grams of gold extracted through a gold placer and cash were also washed away in the flooding.
Flood debris entered residential homes, while road links to Thor were cut off, disrupting connectivity to the affected area.
Flash floods also entered agricultural fields at several locations, including Thor Shaitan and Thor Mek, causing heavy damage to standing crops and farmland.
According to sources, local residents are carrying out relief operations on a self-help basis in the affected areas. However, severed road links are creating serious difficulties for both residents and rescue teams.
