RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) — Juvenile driving permits have been introduced for 16-year-old boys and girls, allowing them to legally ride motorcycles under specific conditions.
According to the traffic police spokesperson, the juvenile driving permit will be issued after obtaining parental consent. Applicants must provide a smart card or B-Form to apply for the permit.
Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam said the permit will only allow individuals to operate motorcycles or scooters up to 125cc capacity.
The traffic spokesperson added that applicants will be required to pass sign and road tests before receiving the permit. Those who successfully clear the tests will be issued driving permits on the spot.
The annual fee for the juvenile driving permit has been set at Rs500 and Rs1,000. The CTO emphasized that wearing a helmet while driving will be mandatory.
He further stated that the permit could be cancelled in case of serious or repeated traffic violations. The initiative aims to promote compliance with traffic laws among young riders, reduce road accidents and improve the overall traffic system.
