Qureshi acquitted as Lahore ATC sentences PTI leaders to 10 years in May 9 case

An ATC in Lahore acquitted PTI Vice President Shah Mahmood Qureshi in a May 9 case, while Mahmoodur Rasheed, Omar Sarfraz Cheema, Ejaz Chaudhry and Dr. Yasmin Rashid were jailed for 10 years each.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Monday acquitted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice President Shah Mahmood Qureshi while other party leaders awarded sentences in a May 9 case.

The judgment was announced by ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul at Kot Lakhpat Jail in a case related to the burning of police vehicles during the May 9 unrest.

The court sentenced PTI leaders Mahmoodur Rasheed, Omar Sarfraz Cheema, Ejaz Chaudhry and Dr. Yasmin Rashid to 10 years in prison each.

However, the court acquitted senior PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who had also been nominated in the case.
