Seven killed, three injured in Bannu blasts

Two explosions in Bannu’s Barghanto area killed 7 people and injured 3 others. Police say the second blast occurred during rescue operations at the scene.

BANNU (Dunya News) – At least seven people were killed and three others, including children, sustained injuries after two successive explosions in the semi-tribal area of Barghanto in Bannu, officials said.

According to District Police Officer Yasir Afridi, the first explosion occurred near a passenger-loaded Datsun vehicle in the limits of Ahmedzai police station in the Barghanto area.

He said a second explosion took place during rescue operations at the same location, further escalating the situation. The victims in the Datsun belonged to the Hathikhel tribe, and the bodies of the deceased were shifted to a Rural Health Centre, while the injured, including children, were moved to KGN Hospital for treatment.

Security forces immediately reached the site and launched a search operation after collecting evidence from the scene.

He further stated that a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) blast also damaged the vehicle of Sub-Divisional Tehsildar Waziri Abidullah, although he remained unharmed.
