PMD forecasts rain, thunderstorms in upper parts of country

The PMD has forecast rain accompanied by windstorms and thunderstorms at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Punjab during next 24 hours.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain accompanied by windstorms and thunderstorms at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Punjab during next 24 hours.

While hot and dry weather is expected to prevail over most other parts of the country.

According to the PMD, Islamabad and adjoining areas are likely to witness partly cloudy weather with chances of rain and thunderstorms.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms is expected at isolated places in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Karak, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Mohmand, Khyber, Waziristan, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Parachinar, Hangu and Kurram.

Similar weather is forecast for isolated areas of Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Khushab, Bhakkar, Layyah and Mianwali in Punjab.

Sindh is expected to remain mainly hot and dry, although partly cloudy conditions may develop over the upper districts.

In Balochistan, most districts are likely to experience hot and dry weather; however, partly cloudy conditions with rain and thunderstorms are expected at isolated places in Kohlu, Nasirabad, Harnai, Sibi, Barkhan and Khuzdar.

Partly cloudy weather with rain and thunderstorms is also expected in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
