(Web Desk)- West Indies Women secured a narrow seven-run victory over Scotland Women in their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup clash after holding their nerve in a dramatic finish.

Batting first, West Indies posted 153-6 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks largely to a blistering knock from Stephanie Taylor. The experienced batter smashed 47 runs off just 19 balls, striking four boundaries and three sixes. Shabika Gajnabi also made a valuable contribution with 36 runs.

For Scotland, Katherine Fraser was the pick of the bowlers, claiming two wickets.

In reply, Scotland appeared to be on course for a successful chase and remained well-positioned for much of their innings. However, a dramatic collapse in the closing stages saw them lose five wickets in the final two overs, allowing West Indies to regain control of the contest.

The turning point came when Darcey Carter, who top-scored with 59 runs, was dismissed as the sixth wicket. Scotland's batting line-up then struggled to maintain momentum. Ailsa Lister contributed 33 runs but was unable to guide her side over the line.

Scotland were eventually bowled out for 146 in their 20 overs, falling seven runs short of the target.

The victory gives West Indies valuable points in the tournament, while Scotland will be left to rue a missed opportunity after coming close to a memorable upset
