'Jealous, bad or stupid': Trump defends Iran agreement amid growing criticism

(Web Desk) – US President Donald Trump has defended his administration's agreement with Iran, dismissing critics who argue that he has not taken a sufficiently tough stance against Tehran.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump pointed to the strong performance of US financial markets and falling oil prices as evidence that his approach is working.

“Those who think I haven't been tough enough on Iran, while the stock market has just hit a record high and oil prices are tumbling, are either jealous, bad people, or stupid,” Trump wrote, ending the message with his signature slogan, “Make America Great Again.”

Trump's remarks come amid growing criticism of the recently announced US-Iran memorandum of understanding, which aims to halt hostilities and pave the way for a broader agreement between the two countries. The framework reportedly includes commitments related to regional security, maritime navigation, and future negotiations over Iran's nuclear programme, although both sides have indicated that a final, comprehensive accord has yet to be negotiated.

The US president has repeatedly highlighted the market's positive reaction to diplomatic progress with Iran, arguing that easing tensions has helped push stocks higher while driving oil prices lower.

However, the agreement has faced criticism from some lawmakers and political commentators, who contend that it grants significant concessions to Tehran without securing sufficient guarantees on Iran's future nuclear activities.

Despite the criticism, Trump has continued to portray the deal as a major diplomatic achievement and a step toward long-term stability in the Middle East.
