Naqvi directed authorities to ensure comprehensive implementation of traffic management plans

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered strict security checks at entry and exit points of Muharram processions and religious gatherings as authorities step up preparations to maintain law and order during the holy month.

The directives were issued during a high-level meeting chaired by Naqvi to review security and administrative arrangements for Muharram.

Officials said a central control room has been established at the Safe City headquarters to monitor security operations, while a four-tier security cordon will be deployed to protect processions and gatherings across the country.

Authorities have also introduced a special “Safe Muharram” mobile application, enabling citizens to report suspicious individuals, activities or security concerns. The app will allow users to share live locations and images with law enforcement agencies.

Naqvi directed authorities to ensure comprehensive implementation of traffic management plans and instructed senior officials to remain present in the field during Muharram activities.

He also ordered timely arrangements for the welfare of security personnel deployed on duty and stressed the need for close coordination with religious scholars to help maintain peace and harmony.

The interior minister emphasized strict adherence to the code of conduct for Muharram events and directed authorities to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against the dissemination of provocative or sectarian content.
