(Web Desk) – The International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed a fine on the Pakistan women’s cricket team following their opening match of the T20 World Cup 2026 against India.
According to the ICC, Pakistan were penalized for a slow over-rate during the match, which was played at Edgbaston. The team was found to be one over short of the required quota within the stipulated time.
As a result, Pakistan were fined 5% of their match fee. The ICC confirmed that captain Fatima Sana admitted the offence and accepted the sanction imposed on the team.
The disciplinary action came after Pakistan’s defeat to India in the tournament’s opening fixture. Despite the result, the focus shifted to the over-rate violation, which led to the financial penalty under ICC regulations.
The ICC stated that maintaining over-rate standards is an important part of international cricket rules, and teams are expected to complete their allotted overs within the scheduled time frame.
