ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan and China have welcomed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) reached between Iran and the United States, describing it as a significant step towards regional peace and stability.
The development came during a telephone conversation between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Wang Yi.
During the discussion, the Chinese foreign minister appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and its reported role in facilitating dialogue between the parties. He also commended Pakistan’s contributions towards promoting international peace and stability.
Ishaq Dar, in turn, thanked China for its support regarding Pakistan’s efforts related to the Iran–US understanding and acknowledged the significance of the Pakistan-China five-point initiative aimed at promoting regional peace.
The two leaders stressed the importance of maintaining close coordination to ensure the effective implementation of the understanding reached between the parties. They also highlighted the strategic importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open for global trade and energy supplies.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued diplomatic engagement in support of peace, stability and economic security in the region.
