PARIS (Dunya News) - US President Donald Trump has said that the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Iran clearly states that Tehran will not possess nuclear weapons.

Speaking to the media after meeting Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Trump said the Strait of Hormuz would be fully reopened by Friday.

Trump said Iran would release the text of the agreement in a formal format and expressed hope that the second phase of the Iran deal would begin soon.

He reiterated that the MoU explicitly prevents Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and announced that he would hold a news conference regarding the agreement.

The US president added that details of the Iranian understanding would be shared with the media within days, and the agreement would be sent to Congress for review.

Qatar's Emir praises Trump over US-Iran agreement

Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has said the US-Iran agreement has the potential to bring positive outcomes to the broader Middle East region, according to Al Jazeera.

Addressing US President Donald Trump at the summit, Sheikh Tamim praised his leadership at what he called a pivotal moment for the region, saying the deal carried significant weight but acknowledged that considerable work lay ahead.

"This is a very important deal, there's still a lot of work to be done, but with this momentum — if we continue like that, Mr President — I think we can achieve and do great things in the region," the Emir said.
