Four newly elected independent members of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly have joined the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party, strengthening its position ahead of government formation.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Four independent candidates who won seats in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections have joined the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP).

The announcement was made during a meeting with Aleem Khan. The lawmakers joining the party include Muhammad Dilpazir from GBA-15 Diamer, Aman Ali from GBA-21 Ghizer-3, Anwar Ali from GBA-23 Ghanche and Asad Shafiq from GBA-24 Ghanche-3.

Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Dilpazir said the four successful independent candidates had formed a group and collectively decided to join the IPP. He added that they were also in contact with other independent members as well as candidates belonging to the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM).

Dilpazir said efforts would continue to persuade more lawmakers to join the party, expressing confidence that the IPP would emerge as the second-largest political force in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly.

The development is expected to strengthen the party’s position in the newly elected assembly as political groups continue consultations regarding future alliances and government formation.
