ATTOCK (Dunya News) - Five militants were killed in an exchange of fire with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) during an intelligence-based operation near a border area in Attock, according to officials.
According to a CTD spokesperson, the operation was launched to arrest suspected militants. The suspects opened fire on the CTD team. All five militants were killed in the ensuing gun battle. The spokesperson said the militants belonged to Fitna al-Khawarij.
Authorities recovered a suicide vest, two hand grenades, three SMG rifles, ammunition, and explosive material from their possession.
Officials added that search operations are continuing in border areas, while preliminary investigations suggest the militants had completed plans to carry out attacks in various parts of Punjab.
