LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Punjab government has ordered the closure of all theatres across the province from the 1st to the 13th of Muharram, according to an official notification issued by the Punjab Arts Council.
The notification stated that no stage dramas, theatrical performances or cultural programmes will be allowed during the period in observance of the sanctity of Muharram.
Authorities have directed theatre managements to strictly comply with the ban and ensure that all entertainment activities remain suspended throughout the first 13 days of the Islamic month.
Meanwhile, security preparations for Ashura are being finalized across the country.
Provincial governments and district administrations are reviewing routes for Muharram processions and religious gatherings, while law enforcement agencies have been instructed to deploy additional personnel at sensitive locations.
Officials said comprehensive security and contingency plans will be implemented during Muharram to maintain law and order and ensure a peaceful environment for mourners participating in religious events.
