ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that a new era of peace has begun, announcing that the signing ceremony of the Iran-United States peace agreement will take place in Geneva on June 19 under Pakistan’s hosting.
Addressing the National Assembly, the prime minister said the world has achieved a historic milestone of peace, adding that after 3 months and 16 days of intense challenges, Iran and the United States have agreed to bring a permanent end to hostilities across all fronts.
He said the formal signing ceremony will be held in Geneva, with Pakistan serving as the host country. He congratulated the people of Pakistan as well as the international community, and extended greetings to all members of parliament and political leaders.
Shehbaz Sharif described the agreement as a victory of diplomacy and dialogue over conflict and war, saying it goes beyond a bilateral deal and represents the success of peaceful engagement. He thanked political leadership including Nawaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto for their support.

The prime minister also congratulated US President Donald Trump, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, noting the role of negotiating teams who showed patience and wisdom during difficult times. He acknowledged the contribution of Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad in facilitating the process.
He further expressed gratitude to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Chinese President Xi Jinping, saying their support helped ensure the success of the diplomatic effort.
Shehbaz Sharif said Field Marshal Asim Munir’s role could not be overlooked, adding that he worked continuously to ease tensions and support peace efforts during a critical period.
He also welcomed the Iranian ambassador to the National Assembly, calling the moment a matter of pride for Pakistan. He praised the efforts of the deputy prime minister and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, saying their contributions to the peace process were significant.
The prime minister congratulated the people of all provinces, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, saying the achievement belongs to the entire nation and reinforces Pakistan’s image as a country committed to peace, stability, and dialogue.
