KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah inaugurated the Azeempura Flyover in Karachi on Sunday, unveiling a major infrastructure project aimed at improving traffic flow in the city.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Local Government Minister Nasir Shah, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and a large number of citizens.
Speaking on the occasion, Murad Ali Shah said the flyover connects Shahrah-e-Bhutto, Shah Faisal Colony, Shahrah-e-Faisal, and Karachi Airport, significantly improving connectivity across key urban routes.
He said the project, worth Rs 1.562 billion, was completed in a record 90 days and would play an important role in reducing traffic congestion at the busy Azeempura intersection.
The chief minister added that the development would benefit commuters traveling to Korangi, Malir, Shah Faisal, and the airport by reducing travel time and easing daily traffic pressure.
He emphasized that Karachi, being Pakistan’s economic hub, requires continuous improvement in transport infrastructure to support its growing population and economic activity.
According to official details, the project includes a 700-meter dual carriage flyover, 1,255 meters of main and connecting roads, 2,075 meters of drainage system rehabilitation, and 850 meters of new footpaths.
The scheme also features a new roundabout, median barriers, and modern street lighting. Officials said the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation completed the project ahead of schedule, which the chief minister described as evidence of institutional efficiency.
Murad Ali Shah said the government remains committed to modernizing Karachi and ensuring safer, faster, and more efficient travel for citizens through continued development projects.
