ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Punjab education authorities have decided to launch a “Libraries on Wheels” project in government schools across Lahore to promote reading habits and digital learning among students.

The project, with an estimated cost of Rs198 million, will introduce a modern mobile library system aimed at improving educational access in schools.

Under the initiative, 85 electric vehicles will be purchased and converted into mobile libraries. Each vehicle will be equipped with 20 modern tablets to facilitate digital learning for students.

In addition, every mobile library will feature a large LED screen to support interactive learning activities. The vehicles will visit one school daily according to a fixed schedule and provide educational services to students.

The electric vehicles will be charged daily at designated charging stations within schools. The initiative aims to ensure that students from every school have access to both library resources and digital learning facilities.

According to the District Education Authority, the project is expected to promote reading habits among students and improve the overall quality of education.

CEO Tariq Mahmood said that modern digital technology will be used to provide students access to advanced learning resources, adding that books along with digital educational content will be made available through this innovative initiative.
