SHANDUR (Dunya News) - The traditional Shandur Polo Festival 2026 has commenced in vibrant fashion at the world’s highest polo ground, drawing sports enthusiasts and tourists from across the country.
The three-day festival is being jointly organized by the governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, with the support of the Pakistan Army.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi inaugurated the festival as the chief guest and described the event as an important platform for promoting national unity, cultural harmony, and tourism.
The opening day featured an exciting polo match between traditional rivals Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan, with spectators enthusiastically cheering both teams for their impressive performances.
Adding to the festivities, a captivating paragliding display entertained attendees and became one of the highlights of the opening ceremony.
The annual Shandur Polo Festival, renowned for showcasing the region’s rich cultural heritage and passion for polo, will continue for three days, attracting visitors, adventure seekers, and sports fans from across Pakistan.
