LAHORE (Dunya News) - The University of the Punjab has issued a new policy regarding PhD research. The Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB) has approved the policy decision during its meeting on Thursday.
Under the new policy, PhD research on living renowned or eminent personalities will not be allowed for scholars of the university.
A ban has been imposed on writing PhD dissertations or research synopses about living individuals. However, recipients of government civil awards will be exempt from this restriction.
Research on living civil award recipients may be conducted only with special permission. For such research, prior approval from the ASRB will be mandatory.
Permission must also be obtained through the relevant Departmental Doctoral Program Committee (DDPC). The policy will apply to all departments of the University of the Punjab.
Deans and heads of departments have been instructed to implement the decision, and the university has formally issued a notification in this regard.
