TEHRAN (Dunya News) - Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has warned that misguided strategies and hasty decisions could further worsen the situation.
In a statement posted on social media, Ghalibaf said that any form of adventurism could inflict severe damage on critical global energy infrastructure, with repercussions likely to be felt across international markets.
According to Ghalibaf, wrong decisions could seriously disrupt global energy markets and lead to a further escalation of tensions in the region.
He added that countries engaging in acts of aggression could find themselves trapped in a prolonged and complex situation that may turn into an endless quagmire.
Ghalibaf said such aggressors could struggle for years to extricate themselves from the crisis, while in the end, the world would witness a very different Iran.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump signaled the possibility of strong military action against Iran, stating that the United States would strike Iran "very hard" tonight.
In a statement posted on social media, Trump claimed that most of Iran's offensive military capabilities had been eliminated, including its navy, air force, radar systems, air defences, and other defence assets.
He further said that, in the near future, the United States would take control of Kharg Island and other key Iranian oil infrastructure sites, putting Washington in a position to oversee Iran's oil and gas markets.
Drawing a comparison with Venezuela, Trump said that US measures in the country's energy sector had proven beneficial for both the United States and Venezuela, suggesting that a similar model could be adopted in relation to Iran.
