DUBAI (Web Desk) - England batter Harry Brook has claimed the No. 1 position in the ICC Test batting rankings, overtaking former captain Joe Root in the latest update released by the International Cricket Council on Wednesday.
According to the updated rankings, Brook now sits at the top, while Australia’s Travis Head has moved up one place to second. Joe Root has slipped two positions to third.
Australia’s former captain Steve Smith remains fourth, while Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis has climbed one spot to fifth. New Zealand’s Kane Williamson has dropped to sixth.
South Africa captain Temba Bavuma is ranked seventh, while India’s Shubman Gill has moved up two places to eighth. Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has dropped to ninth, and Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Chandimal completes the top ten.
In the bowling rankings, India’s Jasprit Bumrah continues to hold the top spot, followed by Australia’s Mitchell Starc in second and captain Pat Cummins in third.
South Africa’s Marco Jansen, Australia’s Scott Boland and Pakistan’s Nauman Ali have each moved up one place to fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
New Zealand’s Matt Henry has slipped three places to seventh, while South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada remains eighth and Australia’s Josh Hazlewood holds ninth position. England’s Gus Atkinson has made a significant jump, rising seven places to tenth.
