KARACHI (Dunya News) - The Sindh government has approved the establishment of a dedicated facilitation desk for transporters at the New Sabzi Mandi in Karachi to improve services for goods transport operators.
According to the provincial transport department, relevant authorities have been directed to immediately set up a one-window facilitation system at the site to streamline documentation and regulatory processes.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department, where officials agreed to introduce the facility to simplify access to route permits and other essential documents for freight vehicles.
Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the desk is being established to facilitate the issuance and renewal of route permits and related documents for goods transport vehicles.

He added that the initiative is part of efforts to integrate more commercial and freight vehicles into a digital and automated system.
The facilitation desk is expected to become fully operational within the current week. Staff will be deployed, while awareness campaigns, including banners and public notices, will be launched to inform transporters about the facility.
Sharjeel Memon further stated that the government is advancing its broader vision of digitising public services, particularly within the transport sector.
He said the initiative will reduce the need for transporters to visit multiple government offices, while digital route permits and fitness certificates will help save both time and cost.
