Re-polling ordered in women's polling station in GBA-15 amid unrest

Official results have been announced for 22 constituencies in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections

GILGIT (Dunya News) - The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan (EGB) has ordered re-polling at a women’s polling station in constituency GBA-15 after voting was declared void due to unrest during the elections.

According to an official notification, polling at the Loshi Thak women’s polling station was disrupted by stone-pelting, gunfire and a deteriorating law-and-order situation, preventing many registered voters from casting their ballots.

The commission said that although around 200 votes were cast, a large number of voters were unable to exercise their right to vote. Polling staff were later evacuated from the station under security protection.

Re-polling at the Loshi Thak women’s polling station will be held on June 15, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. without any break.

The Election Commission said all necessary measures would be taken to ensure transparent, fair and lawful polling, adding that the Returning Officer for GBA-15 would personally supervise the arrangements.

Meanwhile, official results have been announced for 22 constituencies in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections. The Pakistan Peoples Party emerged as the largest party with 10 seats, while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz secured four seats. Independent candidates won seven seats and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen captured one seat. Results for GBA-13 and GBA-14 in Astore remain withheld.
