Govt decides to call budget session on short notice

It wants to ensure budget approval before Muharram

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The federal government has decided to convene the budget session of the National Assembly (NA) on a short notice.

According to the government sources, the treasury members of the National Assembly will be instructed to reach Islamabad by Thursday night.

Consultations on convening the National Assembly's budget session on June 12 instead of June 10 have been completed.

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs sent a summary to the Prime Minister for the budget on June 12.

According to sources, the discussion on the budget will also be kept short. It has been decided to complete all stages of budget approval within a week. The government wants to ensure budget approval before Muharram.

The federal government is reportedly considering a change in the previously announced date for the presentation of the 2026–27 federal budget, with the possibility of shifting it from 10 June to 12 June.

According to official sources, consultations are currently underway and a final decision on the revised schedule is expected within the next 24 to 48 hours.
