Heatwave alert issued for several cities from today

Temperatures in Karachi are expected to remain between 40°C and 43°C during the period.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan is likely to experience a heatwave in several cities from June 7 to June 12, with temperatures expected to rise significantly across the country, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Sunday.

According to the PMD, temperatures in Karachi are expected to remain between 40°C and 43°C during the period.

In parts of Sindh and Balochistan, temperatures could climb as high as 48°C to 51°C, while several districts in Punjab may witness temperatures ranging from 44°C to 48°C.

The plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also expected to remain under intense heat, with temperatures likely to reach between 41°C and 46°C.

The weather department advised citizens to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, particularly between 10am and 4pm, and to take precautionary measures to stay hydrated and prevent heat-related illnesses.
