ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The government and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) are expected to hold consultations on the federal budget today amid ongoing discussions over fiscal allocations.
A PPP delegation led by President Asif Ali Zardari will meet a government team to discuss budget-related matters.
Before the talks, Zardari is scheduled to meet the party's negotiating committee, including Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Murad Ali Shah, Naveed Qamar and Sherry Rehman.
The timing of the meeting with the government delegation will be finalized after the PPP's internal consultation.
Sources said the federal government is seeking Rs1.7 trillion in funds from the provinces.
Prime Minister's Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah said budget preparations remain linked to securing the required resources.
He expressed hope that the government and the PPP would reach a consensus on the issue.
