Pakistan braced for heatwave as temperatures expected to soar up to 48°C

Met Office warns of heatwave conditions across Pakistan from June 7 to 12, with temperatures reaching up to 48°C.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert, warning of intense hot weather conditions across most parts of the country from June 7 to June 12.

According to the advisory, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat and Sialkot will experience heatwave conditions between June 8 and 11.

Other affected areas include Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab and Bhakkar.

The alert further states that southern and central regions such as Layyah, Multan, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Okara, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur will also be impacted.

Temperatures are expected to remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal, with daytime highs likely reaching between 44°C and 48°C during the forecast period.
