Pakistan increased kerosene prices by Rs8.70 per litre despite reducing petrol prices, while keeping diesel rates unchanged.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The government has increased the price of kerosene oil despite recently announcing a reduction in petrol prices.

According to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of kerosene has been increased by Rs8.70 per litre, taking the new rate to Rs280.70 per litre from the previous Rs272 per litre.

The increase comes a day after the government announced a Rs4 per litre reduction in petrol prices while leaving diesel rates unchanged.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the new petroleum prices came into effect on June 6. Following the reduction, petrol is now available at Rs377.78 per litre.

The government maintained the price of high-speed diesel at Rs380.78 per litre with no change.

Last week, the government had reduced the prices of both petrol and diesel by Rs22 per litre each. Following that cut, petrol was priced at Rs381.78 per litre and high-speed diesel at Rs380.78 per litre.

Before those reductions, petrol was being sold at Rs403.78 per litre while diesel was priced at Rs402.78 per litre. Earlier, for the pricing period beginning May 15, the government had also announced a Rs5 per litre reduction in petroleum product prices.
