MUZAFFARABAD (Dunya News) - The Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Friday accepted a government constitutional reference regarding refugees’ seats for hearing, Dunya News reported.
A formal hearing on the constitutional reference is scheduled to take place today (Saturday). A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Saeed Akram Raja issued the decision.
According to the reference, the government has sought guidance from the AJK Supreme Court regarding constitutional amendments, including matters related to seats reserved for Jammu and Kashmir refugees in the legislative framework.
The Supreme Court has directed that notices be issued to the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the Leader of the Opposition in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Notices have also been ordered for members of the legislative assembly, bar associations, and other stakeholders so that they may participate in the proceedings and provide their views on the constitutional issues under consideration.
