Indian students demand education minister's resignation amid exam controversy

Updated on:

Indian students launched a campaign demanding Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation over alleged examination irregularities and accountability concerns.

NEW DELHI (Dunya News) - Growing dissatisfaction over examination-related controversies has sparked calls from Indian students for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

According to reports, a group calling itself the “Cockroach Janata Party” has launched a campaign demanding the minister's resignation and has appealed for a peaceful protest in New Delhi on Saturday.

Student activists claim that alleged irregularities in various examinations have affected the academic future of millions of students across the country. They argue that flaws in the examination system have undermined confidence in educational institutions and recruitment processes.

The campaign's organizers say more than 10 million students have been impacted by examination controversies and administrative shortcomings in recent years.

Reports also indicate that the movement has gained significant traction online, with the “Cockroach Party” rapidly attracting a large social media following. The initiative is being described by supporters as a Gen Z-driven protest movement focused on education reforms and accountability.

The Indian government has not yet officially responded to the latest calls for the education minister's resignation.
