Meta rolls out Instagram Plus subscription service globally with enhanced features

Updated on:

Meta has launched Instagram Plus worldwide, offering optional paid features including extended Stories duration, analytics tools, and customisation options while keeping the standard app free.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Meta Platforms has officially launched its new subscription service, Instagram Plus, across global markets, introducing a range of enhanced features aimed at users seeking greater control, personalisation, and advanced content tools.   The company said the optional service will sit alongside the standard free version of Instagram, which will remain available to all users without any changes.   Instagram Plus is designed to provide expanded creative and analytical tools, allowing users to customise their experience more deeply than in the free version of the platform.   Among the key features, the duration of Instagram Stories has been extended from 24 hours to 48 hours for subscribers. The service also introduces new analytics tools, improved viewing features, and expanded personalisation options.   Users will also be able to send animated reactions and access Story Spotlight enhancements, making shared content more visible to friends and followers.   One notable feature allows users to view Stories in a way that is not visible to others, adding a privacy-focused viewing option within the app.   Meta said the subscription has been developed to enhance user expression and engagement while maintaining Instagram’s core free experience for all users.   The company first began testing Instagram Plus in May 2026 before rolling it out globally following user feedback and performance evaluation.
