(Web Desk) - Pakistan and the United States have witnessed significant progress in bilateral relations, with Pakistan emerging as an important and unexpected partner of the Trump administration, according to a report by US media outlet Vox.
The report stated that Pakistan played a pivotal diplomatic role in the 2026 US-Iran conflict, acting as a key mediator in facilitating communication, ceasefire efforts, and negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
According to Vox, Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif led Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives, with Islamabad hosting the highest-level talks between the United States and Iran since 1979. Both Washington and Tehran reportedly view Pakistan as a trusted intermediary and diplomatic facilitator.
The report noted that President Donald Trump openly praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts. In contrast to his first term in office, the Trump administration has adopted a markedly different approach toward Islamabad, resulting in what the report described as a historic shift in US policy toward Pakistan.
It further highlighted ongoing progress in counterterrorism cooperation and several strategic agreements between the two countries. Pakistan and the United States have also reportedly reached major deals in the cryptocurrency and rare earth minerals sectors.
According to Vox, shifting US strategic priorities have enhanced Pakistan’s regional and global significance. The report added that Pakistan has successfully maintained effective relations simultaneously with the United States, China, Saudi Arabia, and Iran, strengthening its role in Middle Eastern diplomacy.
The publication observed that Pakistan has further consolidated its international reputation and influence through its contributions to resolving global disputes, positioning itself as an increasingly indispensable diplomatic partner on both regional and global fronts.
However, the report cautioned that excessive reliance on US support and persistent regional instability remain significant challenges for Pakistan despite its growing diplomatic prominence.
