(Web Desk) - Veteran American actor James Handy has been killed in a stabbing incident at his home in Los Angeles, with authorities arresting the son of his girlfriend in connection with the case.
According to foreign media reports, the 81-year-old actor was attacked on June 3 at his residence. Police responded to an emergency call that morning and found Handy unconscious with a stab wound to the chest.
He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where doctors later pronounced him dead.
Reports said the suspect, identified as 44-year-old Michael Gladel, was taken into custody at the scene. According to media accounts, he allegedly informed police that he was responsible for the attack.
Authorities said an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
Media reports further stated that Gladel lived with his mother, who was reportedly in a relationship with Handy.
James Handy began his acting career in 1977 and appeared in numerous Hollywood films and television productions over the decades. He was known for his roles in films including Top Gun: Maverick and Jumanji, among many other screen appearances.
