CJP Afridi calls high-level judicial meetings on June 11

Chief Justice Yahya Afridi has called three high-level meetings on June 11 to review judges’ complaints, judicial appointments, performance rules, and measures to speed up justice

ISLAMABAD (Muhammad Ashfaq) – Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi has called three important high-level meetings scheduled for June 11 to address key judicial matters, according to official sources.

The meetings will include a session of the Supreme Judicial Council to review complaints filed against judges of various high courts. The council is expected to conduct a fresh examination of all pending complaints involving judges across the country’s higher judiciary.

On the same day, the Judicial Commission will also convene under the chairmanship of the chief justice. The meeting is expected to finalize rules related to the appointment of new high court judges and establish a formal mechanism for evaluating the performance of serving judges. Once approved, the process may move forward with interviews of candidates for judicial appointments.

In addition, a meeting of the National Judicial Policy Making Committee has also been scheduled for June 11, with CJP Yahya Afridi presiding over the session. The chief justices of all high courts will participate in the meeting.

This forum will review measures taken by high courts to ensure timely justice delivery. Discussions will focus on reducing case backlogs and improving the speed of decisions in pending cases. Instructions are expected to be issued to strengthen judicial efficiency and ensure quicker resolution of cases.

High courts are also expected to present detailed reports on reforms and actions taken within their respective jurisdictions.
