PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – A political forward bloc within the provincial assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced the launch of a protest movement calling for the release of Imran Khan, amid rising tensions within party ranks.
The announcement was made following a second meeting of disgruntled lawmakers in Peshawar, where more than 20 members reportedly participated.
According to participants, the group expressed dissatisfaction over what they described as a lack of a clear and workable strategy to secure meetings with the party founder, who is currently detained at Adiala Jail.
The lawmakers claimed that despite repeated attempts by the chief minister and other parliamentarians to meet the party leadership, no progress had been made.
They further criticised the party’s ongoing protest campaign, describing it as disorganised and lacking seriousness in terms of political direction and coordination.
Members of the forward bloc also linked their stance to upcoming budget deliberations, noting that the position of Aleema Khan on the next fiscal budget had been welcomed within the group.
They demanded that the provincial budget should not be presented in the assembly until meetings are facilitated between the party leadership, the chief minister and the family of the detained leader.
The development highlights widening internal divisions within the party’s provincial structure, as dissenting lawmakers continue to push for a more structured political and negotiation strategy.
