TOKYO (Dunya News) - Pakistan secured a place in the semi-finals of the Under-18 Hockey Asia Cup 2026 after registering an impressive 5-2 victory over Bangladesh in a crucial group-stage match in Japan.
The match, played in Kakamigahara, saw Pakistan dominate proceedings from the opening stages with an aggressive attacking display.
Abdullah scored twice for Pakistan, while Adeel, Asam and Muhammad Yahya added one goal each to complete the convincing win. Bangladesh’s goals came through Tirak Islam and Monna Islam.
Muhammad Yahya was named Player of the Match for his standout performance as Pakistan’s forwards capitalised on scoring opportunities, while the midfield and defensive units maintained control for much of the contest.
With the victory, Pakistan not only booked a place in the semi-finals but also strengthened their credentials as one of the tournament favourites.
Pakistan are now set to face traditional rivals India in the semi-final on 5 June in what is expected to be one of the tournament’s most anticipated fixtures.
President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, congratulated the players and management, describing the result as a reward for the squad’s hard work and dedication.
He expressed confidence that the junior side could maintain momentum in the semi-finals and continue building a stronger future for national hockey.
