LAHORE (Web Desk) - Pakistan Railways has completed its inquiry into the Khanewal bridge collapse incident and dismissed two officials after finding them responsible for negligence.
According to officials, former Divisional Engineer (DEN) Multan Abid Razaq and former Assistant Engineer (AEN) Khanewal Raja Yousaf have been removed from service following the completion of disciplinary proceedings.
The bridge collapse resulted in the death of one person and injuries to several others. Following the incident, the federal minister for railways had announced strict action against those found responsible.
A comprehensive inquiry was launched on the minister’s instructions. The investigation report determined negligence and responsibility on the part of the concerned officials, leading to disciplinary action.
The railway minister reiterated his zero-tolerance policy regarding public safety, stating that no leniency would be shown in cases involving loss of life.
Officials said the accountability process would continue and that negligence and incompetence would not be tolerated within the department.
