LAHORE (Web Desk) - An application has been filed with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) seeking details of the assets and election records of Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chadhar.
The application was submitted by advocate Asif Mahmood, who requested certified copies of Chadhar’s nomination papers and asset declarations filed with the election authorities.
According to the applicant, a separate petition seeking the lawmaker’s disqualification has already been filed before the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly. The application states that access to the electoral record is necessary to examine matters relating to the continuation of his membership.
The petitioner argued that allegations have surfaced regarding the provision of expensive vehicles, valuable gifts and property to a woman, making scrutiny of the legislator’s financial position and sources of income a matter of public importance.
The application further contends that elected representatives are legally required to disclose their assets and financial interests. It therefore seeks records of all declared assets belonging to Saqib Chadhar, his spouse and dependent family members, including both previous and current holdings.
The applicant has requested that the Election Commission provide the relevant documents and records to facilitate examination of the lawmaker’s asset declarations and financial disclosures.
