(Web Desk) - The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has paid tribute to legendary cricket supporter Chaudhry Abdul Jalil, widely known as “Chacha Cricket”, as he prepares to bring an end to his decades-long association with Pakistan cricket following the final ODI against Australia at Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday.
To mark the occasion, the PCB shared a special tribute featuring Chacha Cricket and a collection of memorable images from his years of supporting the national team, thanking him for his unwavering dedication and loyalty.
Describing him as more than just a fan, the board praised his enduring passion and commitment, acknowledging the role he has played in inspiring players and supporters alike over the years.
Chacha Cricket has been a familiar face at Pakistan matches for nearly 40 years and is regarded as one of the most recognisable supporters in international cricket.
His journey as a cricket enthusiast began in the 1980s in Sharjah, where Pakistan frequently played its home fixtures. In 1996, he formally became associated with the PCB as the team's official mascot.
Known for his remarkable devotion, Chacha Cricket is said to have sacrificed personal comforts, including leaving a lucrative job in the United Arab Emirates and selling belongings, to travel and support Pakistan cricket around the world.
Born in Sialkot on October 8, 1949, he became instantly identifiable through his trademark green attire, flowing white beard and distinctive cap decorated with Pakistan’s crescent and star.
Over the decades, Chacha Cricket has evolved into a symbol of loyalty, passion and resilience, standing by the national team through victories and disappointments while earning admiration from cricket fans across the globe.
