LAHORE (Dunya News) – Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has alleged that LESCO employees received Rs80,000 for repairing a damaged transformer without issuing any official receipt.
In a post on social media platform X, the minister said that a transformer in his domestic worker’s village was burnt out recently. He added that he contacted an acquaintance in the electricity department to request assistance.
According to him, the staff repaired the transformer but demanded Rs80,000, which was collected from villagers through donations and handed over to LESCO personnel.

He further wrote that even when a former power minister — who is now part of the federal cabinet — makes a recommendation, such practices are not avoided. He questioned what the situation of ordinary consumers would be if such incidents could occur despite high-level references.
The minister also maintained that while the payment was made properly, the LESCO staff refused to provide any official receipt.
